Medical mouse alternatives

One of our staff has Parkinsons and is no longer able to press down on the regular mouse buttons with her fingers.

 

Her occupational therapist has recommended bigger mice with buttons on the side rather than the top, so she can use her thumb for left-click.

 

Whilst we find out which mouse(s) she's recommending, does anyone else have anything they've used in their schools?

We have 2 members of staff that are using Evoluent Vertical Mouse 3

I use one of these at work and home which I find far more comfortable than a regular mouse (which was causing me wrist pain).

Does said member of staff have a mouse at home they use on their computer, if that works for them get details and order the same if they are happy with it or let them choose what is best for them as you could get something and it be no good for them.

My mums is only affected on her right side, I've been making her use the left hand for mouse. She also gets on ok with a trackpad on the laptop, apple make a giant standalone trackpad.

If their hands also shake, SteadyMouse is meant to be good for removing the erratic motion caused by the shaking. It is quite expensive however.
