fafster Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 What do you wear? I'm considering a one-man protest against shirts and ties. In my last job as a tech between schools, I wore khaki combats and a black polo shirt. This was a lot more comfortable and the trousers a lot tougher than my £8 pair from Asda. What do YOU wear?
elsiegee40 Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Smart clothing required by all staff here: my interpretation is smart black trousers from M&S and an appropriately smart top. My shoes are flat and comfortable; suitable for clambering up ladders/on desks (oops... didn't say that)
Guest kerrymoralee9280 Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Shirt and tie - It doesn't bother me unless I've got my head inside a machine, in which case I just tuck my tie into my shirt.
plexer Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I wear trousers and shirt everyday. Only problem I have is that as I bike 5 days a week I keep putting 2 little holes in my trousers from the saddle. Ben 1
webman Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Same. Black shoes, grey trousers, long-sleeved shirt and a tie. Dead cheap at Asda/Tesco - doesn't matter as much when crawling around on floors etc.
Gatt Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 shirt and tie - but trying to get SMT to allow a polo shirt and combats - unles its for interviews, etc 1
Joanne Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 black polo with school name black dickies work wear trousers black trainers I spend far too much time under desks in balls of fluff to wear anything looking nice. I tried it once... didn't work! 1
linkazoid Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Pretty relaxed here... anything apart from shorts is allowed.. Today i'm in Jeans and T-shirt... pretty much like it all the time tho. 1
WelshTechie Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Today, Jeans and a polo shirt. I've only worn a tie once and that was my first day here. 1
fafster Posted May 6, 2008 Author Posted May 6, 2008 Well this sucks. Never mind, over the holidays I'll be turning up in shorts and sandals. YEAH! 1

jamesb Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Full suit, shirt, tie, jacket, the lot. If I have to crawl around under a desk, which doesn't happen too often, I hang up the jacket and tuck the tie in. 1
ChrisC Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Black trousers, shoes and a shirt here (suit jacket when I've got meetings etc). Waiting for some school branded ICT Support Team polos to arrive for everyday Chris 1
Gatt Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 with regards to Polo's - wheres best place (in manchester area pref.) to get them from?
markcuk Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 shirt and tie...what idiot decided people at work must wear this c**p.
fafster Posted May 6, 2008 Author Posted May 6, 2008 with regards to Polo's - wheres best place (in manchester area pref.) to get them from? Just grab a load from Primark. 1
flashsnaps Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Shirt and tie here, it gets tough sometimes - especially when your under desks and crawling around. Hot weather is going to make it worst. 1
broc Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I wore a suit when I first started here, it was ruined after less than 3 months. Now I wear 'smart casual trousers' & shirt, no tie. Short sleeved in summer, long sleeved in winter. The technicians who work with me are similarly attired. We were offered school polo shirts but they were more expensive than buying ordinary shirts so we gave them a miss. 1
Joanne Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Gatt - buy some quality polo's and get the textiles department to embroider them (probably cheaper!) 1

Inbir316 Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 shirt tie smart trousers and black shoes.....i'd rather wearing combats or trackies or something more comfortable!
cookie_monster Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Trousers and polo shirt, sometime shirt and tie but only for special occasions. Jeans is a bit too casual here as the students all have to wear trousers and polo shirt. 1
steveg Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Smart trousers, shirt and tie here, for both me and the technicains. Only wear a suit if i'm trying to persuade another school to sign up to our services! School holidays its pretty much wear what you want. Steve 1
TechMonkey Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Smart casual here, although I tend to lean towards the casual. Currently in Alien Hominid T-shirt, cargo style trousers and black boots. Always the black boots. Though I wish I could swing it for Grommits dress code....... 1
