Silica Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Yes done all that. All GPO/GPP work just fine. Only silent config is not working! But thanks for clearing that out! Find a guide and work from the start. I usually skip a step without noticing or skim reading and it screws me over!
MArmstrong Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Starting to look at this for our new 1909 build we'll hopefully be able to deploy over the summer. Finally got it to silently sign in thanks to this thread. Just wondering what people have done regarding duplicate files in the 'Desktop' folder? We have a few shortcuts in the public desktop such webmail, our intranet etc and during testing it seems to just be adding copies for every machine i log in to.... Ideally i'd just like to redirect the Documents folder and not bother with Desktop & Pictures. Any ideas?

We've just had to roll with the duplicate desktop icons, if staff log on a different laptop it creates a new edge icon. Saw one of our supply cover teachers who swaps laptops often have about 14 Edge icons haha

Saw one of our supply cover teachers who swaps laptops often have about 14 Edge icons haha Set the following reg key to 1 (DWORD) and it should get rid of that for you for the old version of edge HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DisableEdgeDesktopShortcutCreation Not sure if it works with the new chromium edge or not though.

Saw one of our supply cover teachers who swaps laptops often have about 14 Edge icons haha Yeah i'm failing to find an alternative and our staff could be in a different classroom for each lesson so i can see them ending up with lots! I'm going to pin things to the start menu instead of using desktop shortcuts but i can already hear the outcry when staff cannot see a shortcut on the desktop .... I really wish we had more options with the Group Policies, i'd rather not be re-directing the Desktop at all and just make use of the Documents aspect as the networks guys are eager to scrap the onsite storage we currently redirect to
DrCheese Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 I'm only redirecting documents/pictures to onedrive but keeping desktop redirected to a network share...
thimon Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 I'm only redirecting documents/pictures to onedrive but keeping desktop redirected to a network share... Can I ask why? Why not all documents?
DrCheese Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 I do all Documents. I don't do desktops as I still want to manage the links that people get on Desktops as we have done for years (Staff will lose their minds if they lost all their links) & I don't want them filling their Desktops with garbage. 1

mavhc Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Does the machine installed version auto update?
bknaggs Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Does the machine installed version auto update? Yes it does.
