IT_JB Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Question for those who have PSFinancials, we currently host centrally for the schools in our MAT. Performance ranges from OK to poor for anyone other than the central site, remote VPN users get the worst of it. For those with a similar setup how is your performance? Any recommendations to improve performance over the VPN would be greatly appreciated.
synaesthesia Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Interested in this, slightly different reasons though; very poor performance across multiple schools who connect to PSFCloud directly. Even when bypassing firewalls & filtering, PSF are adamant it's the school's systems/network/holy ghosts.
Meldrew Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Are we talking access to MyPortal, or PSF client software running inside a RDP session, eg RDS?
localzuk Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Performance? Pretty much "average to poor" all the time. We only have the accounting client installed on the servers and on an RDS server, which all the finance staff use. No VPN in use at all.
synaesthesia Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Direct connection to their RDP systems (which are still 2008R2 btw) here.
IT_JB Posted March 19, 2019 Author Posted March 19, 2019 Are we talking access to MyPortal, or PSF client software running inside a RDP session, eg RDS? Full accounting suite, locally installed connecting back to the central SQL server. All of our schools are connected by a mesh network. I realise RDP sessions to the central site would provide better performance but then staff would get a performance hit on their profiles/file access as we have folder redirection to local file servers.
localzuk Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 If performance only suffers via VPN, then the VPN is the only possible culprit. Meaning you have only a couple of options - 1. move to RDS or 2. Redesign your inter-site connectivity.
nathan Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 We simply use RDP and haven't had any issues other than the usual ones with PSF. On a side note, does anyone know if you can delete the PDF files the document emailer creates? it's been creating them since 2016 and comes in at 25GB
IT_JB Posted March 19, 2019 Author Posted March 19, 2019 Has anyone had a go at creating a RemoteApp of the PSFinancials client?
