JMasonHHS Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 Hi,We recently looked into Samba File shares. We have set up a basic shared drive that can be accessed by anyone who has mapped it to their Windows device. We currently have a windows file share with groups permissions. For example, the drive has a Senior Staff and Junior Staff folder. The Senior Staff folder can only be accessed by users in the Senior group etc. Is there anyway to recreate this with a Samba File Share? We have joined the linux server to our Windows domain but are unsure on how to add group permissions to folders.Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
Safa Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 Im a bit confused: Is the linux server the file server hosting the samba share or is the linux machine trying to access the Samba share?
Xellpnz Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Might be worth checking out the Samba Wiki! https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs Read it exact, should get you though =)
