ITManLT Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 Hello All, Does anybody have the official install images for Mac OS kicking around? I know the official path is to "purchase" on the app store, or go through previous purchases, but we need the install image for Yosemite (10.10) and this isn't available on the app store any more. If any of you kind lovely people have the official install available and could kindly send me a download link on GDrive/OneDrive that would help greatly. Thanks, Lee
Sonic007 Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 This what you are looking for? https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/48498/os-x-yosemite#
Mrpower Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 The usual searches and suggestions toward to App Store has turned up, installer unavailable. Sometimes apple hides downloads and with some searching and clicking around it's sometime available, but alas no. Unless it exist on an iTunes / App Store account? You could try command R on reboot to put the Mac or Macs into recovery mode and see if you can restore from there. Or upgrade to El Capitan Get El Capitan.
3s-gtech Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 If you have downloaded it before, it will appear in your App Store 'Purchases' history on the Mac, and you'll be able to re-download it quickly and easily from there.
ITManLT Posted March 6, 2019 Author Posted March 6, 2019 The only problem is I don't think this was "purchased" on the school's iTunes account in the past. I can see the installer for Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion in the previous purchases, but can't see Yosemite in there. I presume an old technician before myself already had the download somewhere so didn't "purchase" it on the schools iTunes account. Hence me asking if anyone had the official installer. We have managed to get around this for now by using the recovery partition to wipe the drive and re-install the OS from there. It would just be good if as you say, if some has the download available in their previous purchases, if they could share the official DMG from the app store to help in future. Thanks, Lee.
3s-gtech Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Ah that's a pain! Have a look at this recent thread - I think we found a way there http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mac/203424-refurb-old-macs.html 1
ITManLT Posted March 6, 2019 Author Posted March 6, 2019 Thanks for that. I've just found a reply from you in that thread actually: You may have trouble finding older version in the App Store, but they are there and can be found with the direct links listed here: https://apple.stackexchange.com/ques...jave-app-store Typically, the link to the Yosemite installer doesn't work.. Loads up the App Store then says it's unavailable. The other three later ones (El Capitan onwards) do work though, so I shall download them tomorrow to plan for this happening again in the future. Could still do with the Yosemite installer though for this image, as I hate relying on the recovery image.. can never be sure the HDD is totally wiped, plus it's included when I use DeployStudio to capture an image of the HDD..
XiJ Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 I found an older install image of Mac is x from a link on the apple website (that opened App Store on the Mac). It wasn’t 10.10 but you might have some look going that way.
bwestlake Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 I have from 10.8 to 10.12 as .iso if you PM me I can send you links
dayzd Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 I can upload the 10.10 installer app somewhere later today (once I've grabbed it out of my backup this morning), if you still need it.
londonbg Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Did you sort this? I'm sure I've kept every version in a folder somewhere.
