Broken iPad Screens

Hi there,

Over the past year, I have accumulated no-less than four broken iPad Pro screens from 'accidents'.

 

I contacted Apple who wanted about £15 less the original value of the iPad to 'repair' it. This is clearly not feasible.

Have seen a few online places, but not sure which are reputable.

 

Does anyone have any recommendations?

 

Am tempted to look at doing it myself, but not sure I could properly re-seal it.

 

The model in question is:

MLQ32B/A

iPad Pro 9.7"

First came out mid-2016.

I've used https://www.ipadrepairs.co.uk/ for a few years, they take school purchase orders, and can arrange collection and return delivery if required.

I use... ipadrepairs.co.uk and ipaqrepair.co.uk

 

 

Both will do collection/delivery, prices are OK, and will invoice. They've both been quick and reliable for me. ipodrepairs just edged it for me for service. I've only used them once mind. Ipaq I have used many times and are pretty good.

 

Typically a collection-->screen replacement-->delivery is about £60 ish. Not so bad.

EDIT: Just noticed Ipad pro screens. These aren't going to be cheap m8. Over £200 I think.

All depends where you are in the country. We used to use a smallish repair shop that wasn't too far away (they came recommended by a lot of people, including from IT staff at the LEA who had used it for personal equipment when we were having the issue with

 

They collected and returned the device, gave us updates if they were delayed or there were bigger issues (e.g. bent frame etc), and a hefty Edu discount too! Might be worth asking if any local schools have experiences, as accidents/kids happen to devices.

I've used @Millgate before who did a super job for a reasonable price.

 

I have done them myself before but my issues has always been getting the screen to sit properly where the screen cables lie. And I've found that if you fiddle around too much getting the screen on the wires are liable to break.

:)I always replace the LCD screen of my phone and tablet by myself, which can save a lot of money.

Last place I used was www.quickmobilefix.com but I wasn't massively satisfied with the work. www.medrepairs.co.uk look to be very cheap, they get great reviews but I suspect they're doctored - no-one gets 5/5 all the time!

There's a company RepairBase/ReplaceBase in Northampton who I recommend highly for this sort of thing; chances are if you're ever shopping for replacement odds and sods for Apple devices you've likely stumbled across their listings. Again they work well with schools and insurance cases

JustAskEden.co.uk get the iPad repairs for at least three large schools (1700+) around here.

 

All three use Compucover insurance and Eden are an approved repairer.

 

Can't recommend them enough.

Update - I've just had two iPad screen replacements back from ipadrepairs.co.uk (Fix It Ltd).

 

Very happy with their work, they've done a clean job on both devices, and they turned it around in something like three days from receiving the devices. They accepted a purchase order, and they came out at something like £40 per device before VAT and postage.

 

Quick turnaround and no fuss, very refreshing!

They give an estimate for replacement and return and confirm this on receipt (unless there is an additional issue).

 

They are established educational IT specialists and I have found them both friendly and reliable.

When devices have had their screens replaced I have noticed that they don't work well with Griffin survivor cases after they have been replaced this may have something to do with the thickness of the glass, but I'm not sure.

Thanks, have just emailed them now. Didn't realise they did repair. I have actually ordered several iMacs from them in the past and know someone who works there.
