04amh Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Hi Guys, We have been considering all options regarding moving away from SIMS, and wondered if any of you use BromCom? I've been to a training session, and it looks fantastic! But wondered if any of you actually use it? Thanks
ajp233 Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Are you a primary or secondary school? It is much more geared towards secondary schools.
04amh Posted February 11, 2019 Author Posted February 11, 2019 We are a large 3-form Primary. What would you suggest instead of BromCom?
yac2016 Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 It seems Arbor and ScholarPack are more geared towards primary schools.

Not really, we are MAT with 2 primary schools. 2 form and 4 form. We migrated over to Bromcom last February. For me, the decision was based on the fact that it is the number 1 MIS for MATs in the UK and also, as far as I could see from my investigations, it was the most feature filled in terms of making the transition easier for staff from SIMS.

Thanks You haven't specified for what type of school, because in the case of ScholarPack it's Primary only, whereas Bromcom and Arbor cater for all school types. If you're part of a MAT with Primary and Secondary, then I'd say it's definitely preferable to have the same MIS throughout.
CHSGM Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Currently going through this myself and as a large 3 school Primary MAT, I am now only looking at Bromcom, Arbor and Scholarpack. I attended BETT the other week and I must say that Arbor was the one that impressed me the most. Been through 2-3 Bromcom demo's now and attended an event, but Arbor stood out when I saw that. Planning to procure via the G-Cloud framework and make a decision upon feedback from Trust Staff, but I would certainly look into the other 2 before being settled on Bromcom. I was all for it, UNTIL I saw what else was out there.
themightymrp Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 We are a large Secondary and use Bromcom, as does another local Secondary. We are well into our second year of using it now and so far its been very good. We moved from CMIS and the transition, at least from a teachers perspective, went very smoothly. At the back end, it can take a bit of work to get reports and behaviour systems set up in the way you want. The support is generally very good. There are little niggles and issues like you would expect with any MIS system. The update that was installed in January caused a few headaches due to some bugs that were introduced but they have been pretty swift at rectifying those. For us, there was probably a lot more pain than for some schools as our SLT wanted all the bells and whistles practically working from day one, rather than accepting a basic setup for year one and then building on it. Consequently we probably use a lot more of the advanced features than a lot of schools would bother to, particularly when it comes to automation features. We haven't gone down the route of using their VLE and won't be investing in their new Finance module (as we are with Sage) but do use their My Child at School system which has been extremely popular with parents! Happy to discuss some more bits if you drop me a message
