I know this has been covered in many posts before but to be honest i am at a loss. I need to get some policies drawn up sooner rather than later and dont have much idea. I have googled and found little snippets but i thought it would be better asked on here.

I need a Internet Policy, that students would take home and get signed

A Student AUP (maybe combined with the Internet one)

A Staff AUP & laptop Agreement

i was hoping someone could give a few examples?

I'm after a policy to cover staff that use student data at home i.e. reports and any other confidential information.

So far here are the ones I am looking at as part of an LA project.

Acceptable Use Policy (full T&Cs)

Acceptable Use Policy Agreement (to be signed by both students and parents, as well as all staff)

Staff Laptop Agreement (to fit in with the school usage of staff laptops)

Data Protection Policy

Freedom of Information Policy

CCTV

Copyright

Service Level Agreement

Induction Pack

Images and Audio

Social Networking for Staff

Asset Register (including equipment disposal register)

I have most of these already for my school, but there are still things I would change in them as they are not generic. The one I am keen to get sorted in the next month or so is the advice on social networking for staff. There are people out there doing stupid things and they need to know how to protect themselves.

That comes under your data protection policy.

Hi,

Here's a copy of a Staff AUP that I want to put through for approval in September once we rename our school.

It's quite different from our current one. Takes on more of a legal aspect for Staff.

Still yet to do the Student one but you may find it useful ;)

Thanks from a newbie.

(I can't see a button for sending these so they count and appear at the bottom - one appeared after I'd sent a message like this before, but it's now vanished again. Can someone PM me to help me out???)

The thanks button is the one with a thumbs up symbol, bottom right of a post. By clicking on that you thanks is acknowledged with a credit below that post. It also adds 5 points to reputation (not rep power of the person being thanked)

Alternatively you can click on the scales symbol bottom left of a post and add to the person's reputation - in which case you can add a comment which only the person being thanked can see.

Great policies there DumbleDook might incorporate them into some of ours.

Have attached ours incase there of any use. Most our documents were written from information gained from the Kent County policies and information.

But my main reason for posting now is i haveto write a disaster recovery plan. Is there anyone got any decent ones? I have a backup procedure but needs expanded into a disater recovery.

Any help greatly apperciated.

A number of LAs are really getting good on the eSafety side of things ... but some of the other stuff still is not quite there ...

Disaster recovery. After an inspection as part of a Becta survey I owned up to not having one. When asked why I said that I did not have enough storage space on my shelves for it as it would be rather on the large side and I had yet to arrange a suitable location for the off-site copy of it too.

Strangely enough this was the correct answer.

A DR plan should be extensive and cover everything from cleaning a room due to a recent bug going round through to replacing the whole school. DR plans should be tied into the whole school DR plan ... and that gets even bigger.

Simple answer? Start small ... include in it where all your documentation is ... asset register, licence register, warranties, etc ... presume you have lost everything and talk about starting it all from scratch but loading the same data and structure back in ... and then you can go more fine grained later.

Take 6 months off to complete!
