Unlock a disabled iPad

Hi all,

 

Pretty sure I know the answer to this one, even if it's not the one I want to hear!

 

A Teacher left her iPad in an accessible place, the iPad was passcoded and was picked up by an eager student, basically its now in an iPad is Disabled state with no countdown for a re try after the student spend some time trying code after code, but I know what the code is!!!

 

Is there anyway of unlocking the thing? It isn't managed with any MDM so it cant be unlocked via Profile Manager or anything, or is it a case of full restore?

 

I have tried the Backup and Restore trick but have had no luck with that, not sure its even an option anymore on iOS 12?

If you plug in to a pc or mac with Itunes can you do anything from there?

You will have to restore from iTunes...

Unfortunately no, I only get the Update & Restore option, plugging in to a PC or Mac only works if you have a backup of the iPad available, which I don't.

Ha! That's the answer I don't want Staff member has data on she want's wouldn't be that bothered if I didn't know the code... but i do!!!

If you have no other way of recovering it DFU mode should at least allow you to recover the device, but will wipe everything.
