beeswax Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 I had to leave before the end of a demonstration of the above. Is anyone using it?
Oops_my_bad Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Our LEA is trying to sell it to our schools - might be interesting, how much they asking for?
Sylv3r Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 We have it here - its good for some subjects but not all our subjects use / like it. Bare in mind it takes up a hell of a lot of disk space also!
beeswax Posted May 1, 2008 Author Posted May 1, 2008 It seems the deal they are offering includes a Linux server solely responsible for delivering ClipBank and subjects will be updated once a week. While we don't own the copyright it seems that all material can be used on our website, VLE or in pupils' work without having to ask Channel 4/Esspresso (who I think own the project now) for permission to use it in this way. @Sylv3r - We have some ClipBank Science cd roms which are widely used in that department, but from what I gather all that is in the past. @Oops_my_bad - I don't know the final price yet as there's some sort of discount sliding scale because we have had material from them (Science cd roms).
linkazoid Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 We've just had it installed here.. a bloke came along and had it configured in about 30 mins... Dunno how much it cost as it was bought by the Head of ICT.. It's just started to be used by members of staff, but they will have to learn to link directly to the videos and not save them in thier user areas.
beeswax Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 @beeswax who gave you them demo? Thanks Z It was a lady called Helen (didn't hear a surname) who came into school, though the person dealing with the ordering is called Carol. HTH.
FN-GM Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Right sounds interested. How do you contact these people? Thanks Z
beeswax Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 Channel 4 learning - online education resources and activities for schools While I was Googling for it, I also came across this which sounds positive.
