HI Everyone,

I'm trying to create an Individual Report in Assessment Manager but I'm getting an error "unable to download the student template file" - it's the first time in a while IRs have been created in this system.

Does anyone know where the template should be saved and what's it's meant to be called? Can you recreate it manually - or is there another solution to this issue.

I'd really appreciate any tips here - this one has me stumped!

You need to apply a patch, if you're on 7.184 then it's patch 23421. It's a run once and there's some further troubleshooting steps to try if that doesn't resolve it but 9 times out of 10 it sorts it out!

Too add to the response above - as this happened to us earlier today & 24321 did indeed sort the issue out...

KB111517 "Cannot Locate Base Template" or "Cannot Download the Base Template File"

KBA-457822-F8Z2L7

Notes

Focus | Assessment | Individual Report

When accessing the above route, the following error appears:

"Cannot locate Base Template"

Workaround

Please contact your Local Support Unit and request the following Patch (depending on which release of SIMS you are currently on):

Patch 24069 if you're on the Summer Release 2018 (7.182)

Patch 24321 if you're on the Autumn Release 2018 (7.184)

Please note, these are Run Once Patches which means they can only be applied to the SIMS database once. If the error occurs after these have been applied then please follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

1) Open Task Manager on the affected workstation and locate 'WINDWORD.exe'. End this process and then navigate to the route in SIMS again.

2) If the above does not resolve the issue, then please close SIMS.net. Type 'services.msc' into the Windows search bar to open the services.

Locate 'SIMS .net Document Server' and restart this. Once it has restarted, please log back into SIMS.net and the issue will be resolved.

If you are experiencing the error, then it may be due to incorrect pathing or multiple instances of a DocStorage folder. please see KB68682 for more details.

Type 'services.msc' into the Windows search bar to open the services.

Locate 'SIMS .net Document Server' and restart this. Once it has restarted, please log back into SIMS.net and the issue will be resolved.

FYI just happened to me, the above section worked, no patch required. I had just imported fileset 1606 so don't know if that is coincidence or related as was fine just before half term last week.
