HP Switches Lifecycle

Just after some information about the life cycle of the HP 1810 and HP 1910

 

When will HP stop supporting these switches? At some point HP gotta go we will no longer support these switches becouse they are x years old. But When?

They have a lifetime warranty so it's when your lifetime ends.

I figure there will come a point when the network speed of these switches will be too slow compared to more modern kit.

 

At which point people will replace them and the number of returns will drop.

Isn't it the the lifetime of the switch? They have an end of sale date and an end of life date. Warranty normally ends 5 years after EOL date I think. That's what I always thought. I may be wrong.

Annoyingly. These switches have lifetime warranty. ( well 100 years).

 

Would be interested to see what they replaced it with? (If the 1910 or 1810 had a fault)

So long as it's not 1920S! (We're mostly 1910 with a few 1920, really good switches for the money, they EOL'd the 1920 and replaced with 1920S which are absolutely awful web interface, pretty much unusable for us as half the settings don't exist. Got one of them)

Don't know about 1810, but not been able to buy the 1910 for a few years now (why I moved onto 1920 which you also can't buy any more)

All HP switches have it as far as I'm aware. We've even had switches from other places and had them replaced under warranty.

They were being nice. The current warranty terms are for the original customer only.

"Limited lifetime warranty (where applicable) extends only for as long as the original end user owns the product and is limited to five (5) years from the end of sale date."

We've had some 1800-24G and 1810-24G switches replaced under warranty. Usuaully they are replaced with the same switch, although I think we might have had an 1810 back when we returned an 1800 once. We've never been asked for proof of purchase.

That's what I always thought it was. EOS and then EOL + 5 years.

Warranty depends a lot on whats wrong obviously, at my old place we had one which fans made a HUGE noise and they didn't accept it under warranty..... weridly the same switch stopped working a month later.... what a coincidence

That's not right as that's a hardware failure. We had one like that and got it sorted.

They said it was within the regular dB which i thought was BS, well i would of thought if i could hear myself think over the noise. Got it changed in end so worked out ok.
