It's that time of the month, what did you expect? M$ always wait till the 14th to release the patches.

Irresponsible imho. Yes I know they insist on testing things to destruction but they've made exceptions in the past (most recently with the WMF exploit) so I don't see why they can't release all 'critical' updates imediatly. I'd much rather have a 'it might break if you have a wierd setup' patch now, rather than a window of opportunity of 3 weeks for a virus writer.

No, its about 9 billion because:

 

• They patch sooner (a few days usually).
  
• They patch software that has nothing to do with the base OS (Openoffice, Firefox, Apache, KDE, Gnome, etc).
  
• There's a zero to insignificant chance of a virus appearing trying to exploit a security vunerability.

That's right, exactly And atleast the updates are there and can be applied at one's leisure. Especially if you use something like apt or yum for a linux OS, or ports on freebsd. And you know what it will change as you can scrutenise (sp?) the code if you so wish.
