If my exams lady prints her individual reports to the exams printer via the "FollowYou" queue, they come out alphabetically. If she prints them to the printer "Exams printer", which is still going through PaperCut and all the same dialogue boxes of "Which department to bill", they don't. Any ideas why? I know the answer is "Just print them to followYou and log in to the exams printer", but there's a long story behind why we don't want to in the future.

It's not as simple as the reports as individual documents are sent to the printer in the order (by class or whatever, as oppose to alphabetical), so if direct to a printer they come out in the same order it receives them.

When going to Papercut they just queue and when you open your queue it is alphabetical, send 2 documents yourself with different names but with the later in the alphabet one first and see which order they show in your queue?

I suspect it is sorting the hold queue alphabetically, admittedly I have no idea how or why.

Do you mean alphabetically by file name?

Our papercut follow-me jobs seem to print in the order they were sent. So it's likely to be something in the release station that's re-sorting them.

I guess the user can't just send her jobs in the order she wants to release them in.

She's sending a year groups worth, so around 150. She can also get them to come out in the correct order if rather than waiting for them all to queue, then ticking the box for "Apply to all jobs in queue", she clicks OK on the dialog for each inidividual print job, but then of course she has to do that around 150 times for an entire year group. It just doesn't make any sense to me that using both methods, all 150 queue, then she ticks the box and sends them all at once, yet one queue is alphabetical and the other isn't.

Done this;

Disable the popup on this queue by using the following option on the printer in PaperCut: Override user-level settings

→ Do not display account selection popups (Always charge personal account)..

And all is sorted now. Thanks @Big_Ted.
