Youtube Restricted mode (RM CC4 Network)

Hi all,

 

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a policy setting in RMMC, that is affecting Youtube to act in restricted mode.

 

I have narrowed it down to being a policy setting, just can't work out which one.

 

Any help would be brilliant.

Why do you want it Un-Restricted?

Hi, I'm not aware of any CC4 policies that could configure this. Does it happen in Chrome and IE? Could it be the ISP?

Connect a laptop to the network that isnt on cc4 and I suspect it will also be restricted

Thanks for the replies. I need it unrestricted because teachers are finding videos at home to show in lessons that are being filtered out by the restricted mode. For instance a Romeo and Juliet video was affected the other day.

 

I seem to have worked it out, under the 'Google Chrome' category there is a 'Force Safesearch' which apparently includes Youtube restricted mode.

Hi if you are on a LGFL network ( London) the head of the school would need to sign a form to allow access to websites which LGfL has assessed as potentially 'High Risk' and would ordinarily not allow. Anyway i had to change my DNS settings and put in forward in, as atcotes mentioned there is no settings in the RMMC for youtube. hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. However there is indeed a setting in RMMC that can make YouTube act in restricted mode. It can be found under Google Chrome

Hi Christien , i tried that and it didn't work hence why i said that....like i said make changes to the DNS and it will work i have some documentation somewhere that i can send you if that helps..

I stand corrected it does appear on the pop up (good spot). I'd be cautious about this and make sure SMT sign off just to cover yourself. Depending on what filtering you have it may be a useless setting if it's forced elsewhere. Edited October 17, 2018 by atcoates

I ran some searches on google images with and without the SafeSearch setting on. It didn't seem to make any difference at all. We actually use Safetynet for our filtering, so I have a feeling that SafeSearch is forced somewhere on there.

 

I've only removed the setting for teaching staff anyhow and it seems to have done the trick. I'm still getting used to finding my way around a CC4 network, as our other site is vanilla.
