Converting a video to THIS SPECIFIC format

Hello, all..

 

Our school has an old Exterity digital display which plays MPG format videos. It's used in our corridor areas for "welcome to the school" type things on LCD screens.

(Yes, I know OneLAN is much better suited for this - we're stuck with what was bought)

 

Previously, we've converted PowerPoint slides to videos using PowerVideoMaker.

Allegedly, it's a 720x576 PAL DVD format. VLC says they're actually 720x480 - but at least the damn things play on the display unit.

 

Now that we've moved onto Office 2016, we can export PPTX slides to MP4.

I was hoping to use something FREE like Handbrake or AnyVideoConverter to change this MP4 to the same format as these generated slides.

Reason being the PowerVideoMaker is sometimes a tad "fussy", requiring reboots and swearing.

 

Can I get videos converted in Handbrake or AnyVideoConverter to play on these display units? No. No I cannot.

I've looked at them in G-Spot and VideoInspector, and I can't for the life of me get a video converted with the same settings.

 

Is there any chance some kind soul could look at the video, and give me some pointers on some FREEWARE I can use to convert an MP4 to a matching format?

One that I used to use to convert video and audio files was a piece of software called "Format Factory". Free download

+1 for Format Factory. It does MP4 to MPG conversion.

+1 for Format Factory. Also, get MediaInfo to inspect your video files. That'll tell you all you need to know about things like bitrate, codec, frame size, etc. It's not just a case of getting the right file extension and video frame size.

 

Your sample video is 8Kbps, 720x480, 20fps, MPEG2, with an MPEG1 audio stream.

Despite it's entirely non-user-friendly name, I've not found a conversion that XviD4PSP hasn't handled.

What Codec are you using in Handbrake?

 

MP4, MPEG are just containers
