MACIT Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 Just a shout out, have any other schools been experiencing issues with the batch import of student photos this year? Specifically the application of the licence file?
JJonas Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 Ours worked first time when we tried it. No problems with the licence file.
MACIT Posted October 2, 2018 Author Posted October 2, 2018 As a matter of interest did they send you file as a zip or a plane li2 file?
theeggmaster Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 Ours worked fine too. We were sent the file as a plain li2 file.
MACIT Posted October 2, 2018 Author Posted October 2, 2018 Interesting will see if i can get them to send it to us another way
Hate_Lee Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 Mine said expired. I emailed Distribution and they sent the file again but it still wouldn't work. I was told to log a case, that was a week ago - still waiting for a license file that will work.

I was told to log a case, that was a week ago - still waiting for a license file that will work. Interesting that you are also in Worcestershire!!! I'm at my wits ends with this! Are we all on the the same exe version of Pulsar? (7.182.49.1)
Hate_Lee Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 No I've not upgraded for a while. Is your problem with an expired licence too? I've never had an issue with this before, and can't understand what's taking so long for them to send me one that works...
MACIT Posted October 5, 2018 Author Posted October 5, 2018 We have had 6! licence files sent to us over the last week, all of which will not work. We have considered and ruled out the following: 1) 64bit/32 Bit compatibility issue 2) File being corrupted by our mail filter (had file sent to us another way) 3) Have used several different workstations (including the server itself) 4) Have put the licence file in various different locations including locally on the machine 5) Have tried importing via registration group rather than admission number 6) Have tried shouting at people at capita 7) Have tried being nice to people at capita 8) Have tried lighting magic candle Out of ideas!
Hate_Lee Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Who do you get your support from? I'm getting on the phone now to mine.
PotNoodleTech Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Our was emailed as an li2 and worked fine?
Hate_Lee Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 I'm with a different team so I get anything useful back I'll let you know.
MACIT Posted October 5, 2018 Author Posted October 5, 2018 Thank you, will be interesting to see what the solution is.
David_Grashoff Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Anyone having problems with their file can post details of the error message received, plus a screen shot and the name of the license file provider I will see what I can do to help.
Hate_Lee Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 David my file was sent from [email protected], the file has my school name and is a .li2, they have sent the file twice now (but same error). The error comes up when I select the file while in Batch Import Photographs | by Admission number - Photo license key expired. I logged a case two weeks ago, I called Friday too, but I have had no response to this error.
MACIT Posted October 8, 2018 Author Posted October 8, 2018 the most common cause of this error is that you are inadvertently using last years license. Rename the file sent from distribution this year to something completely different e.g. hatelee.li2 and try again. if it still doesn't work then send the file to me at [email protected] David, Not wishing to speak out of turn here but I have been dealing with this issue for the last 3 weeks and have been bashed around from support department to distributions back and forth over that time. I appreciate you might be new to this issue but stating "the most common cause of this error is that you are inadvertently using last years license" is insulting I currently have a folder with about 6 versions of the licence in it! I'm not exactly new to this process of applying a licence file to licence some software. Can I have a suggestion that is a little more constructive than one that translates to "you don't know what your doing" I am normally a very patient person who is not easily pushed to this point, my apologies if I sound frustrated its because I am! I also don't like venting in public forums but havening exhausted other avenues I have appear to have no choice.
David_Grashoff Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Macit - your email to me this afternoon suggests a different error message to "Photo license key expired" and I have responded to you accordingly. The cause of your error is the license file contains incorrect establishment data. Those who know me will confirm I am here to help, be constructive and not to insult. 1
Hate_Lee Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 MACIT I was originally sent an email with Test at the end of the subject, I've dragged that out the bin and used that - all OK. Have imported my files. Hopefully your issue will be resolved quickly too.

Just wanted to say a big Thank You to David for finally sorting this out for me via direct email. The experience getting to this point has not been a pleasant one as David has confirmed that the reason the key was not working was the encoded institution number was incorrect in the file. Something I had been shouting about and trying desperately for distribution at Sims to understand from day one but I could not get anyone to listen to me or actually read my emails. Oh well we got there in the end and I am very grateful to David for sorting this mess out I can now go back to my day job. 2
