Computer disconnecting from network

Hello All

 

Hoping you can help, we have a computer here that seems to intermittently disconnect from the network. It's actually got 2 network cards one that goes to our domain network for internet access and another that goes to it's own internal network to manage some machinery and both keep dropping out. This only started around Monday before then it was a solid connection.

 

I have done all the generic testing to see what's going on like is it the cables, check IP's etc and all seems fine the only thing I can find in event viewer is something about isatap.domain.local can't be reached and then it seems to disconnect.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm pulling my hair out with this one.

Have you got the DNS settings and gateway on the Adapter that is jus for local traffic, I'd also want to stop the IP address of the non-internet adapter registering on DNS, there is a check box in the adapter settings.

Hi @Davit2005 thanks for helping I've done those things but hasn't seem to rectify the issue. I've just come in this morning and one of our main HyperV Servers says something similar and disconnected itself from the whole network causing the place to not run for half an hour.

 

I'm really quite confused with this one, the server event viewer says the following: Unable to update the IP address on Isatap interface isatap.{81AE73B4-7482-4D07-B6C0-8E5006036D96}. Update Type: 1. Error Code: 0x490.

There's also https://kevinstreet.co.uk/2017/05/11/isatap-failing-with-error-0x490/ which suggests it could be that something IPv6 related was disabled by GPO... and removing HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP6\Parameters\DisabledComponents resolves the issue.

 

For the case of vSphere, here suggests switching the NIC from E1000E to VMXNET3 - https://www.pickysysadmin.ca/2016/02/16/networking-randomly-dies-on-a-2012-r2-vsphere-vm/

Hi Mate

 

I've checked those two already, sorry. I went into Device Manager but I don't have an Isatap adapter listed just my two network adapters both which say Intel? I have also ran the command netsh interface isatap set state disabled

 

Looked at the registry editor although mine dosen't have that entry listed. I've actually added it to hopefully disable it? Still doesn't seem to have helped though?

Have you set device manager to show hidden devices?

 

Re: reg key - REMOVING it if it exists was proposed. Adding it if it doesn't may have other unexpected consequences.

Is there anything telling in the WLAN-AutoConfig event log?

 

EDIT:

Whoops! Just me being silly, try enabling the Winsock Network Event log and resetting maybe.
