I am having issues with no mobile signal (any network) and not getting texts for Apple Two Factor Authentication as a result.

I can not use the schools landline number as they have an automated attendant and the system cant cope with that.

Apple were not overly helpful, but recommended to use Google Voice but being in the UK it will not let me sign up as Google Voice is for users in the US only.

Does anyone else know of any free (or extremely cheap) SMS to E-Mail services to enable the Authentication Code to be sent to me.

cant you set the phone system to redirect calls from the authentication service number thing direct to your desk phone or something instead of the AA

That might be an option but when they phone is the phone number the same every time, and what phone number do they use? If it comes up as private or restricted that will not work and I would need to know the phone number that is incoming.

I cant get a second mortgage to buy an iPhone.

iPad £300, guess its a small price for them for you to be able to support Apple devices\services. Failing that, check iPod??

Does your phone support Wi-Fi Calling? The text messages will be delivered over Wi-Fi then. :)

I wish companies would either stop using SMS-based 2FA altogether or offer an alternative method like U2F security keys. :(

A Windows PC with iCloud for Windows and iTunes will give you access to 2 factor for login to ASM.

Once you have done this click on "trust" if the PC is only used by you, you have to ensure you log in once in 30 days otherwise you have to use 2 factor again

Do you use some kind of phone system, so one external number and several internal phones? Our internal phone PBX has slots for 4 incoming physical connections, some of which can be mobile phones if you place a SIM card in the PBX. It lets us do text-to-email from that number, too. That might be a solution, depending on what phone system / hardware you use.

My phone network does not support Wi-Fi calling yet, but phone does (Xiaomi Mi A1 and GiffGaff).

Even if it did, the issue is finding what is required to be unblocked by the LEAs highly restrictive and blocking firewall in terms of ports and destinations IPs to work and at the moment they can't even figure out how to unblock Whatsapp at their end so that works properly!
