sLiDeR Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Tried it but wont recognise the cd DO I have to destroy the boot partition??? Any ideas on completely wiping vista & having XP on would be appreciated.
steve_nfi Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Can't you set your machine up as dual boot or do you just want rid of Vista?
Guest PatBoland Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 (edited) I have tried a few options on this and have a couple of Dual Boots also. The best and easiest way for a clean install was to delete any partitions and install a fresh XP, following prompts. Obviously all data is lost Edited May 1, 2008 by PatBoland
flashsnaps Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 If your having no luck with that, completely wipe the drive and go ahead with a fresh install of XP.
Martin Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 You may want to check the partition layout, because during a Vista installation (where the installer partitions the hard drive) the first partition starts at sector 2048!! If you then try to install XP on the existing partition layout, it will fail!!! mb
