Sorry about the vague title there, but im trying to see if theres any programs that will play pretty much everything

 

by that i mean one program that can play quicktime, media player, real player, DVDs etc etc etc AND be integrated with IE / Firefox without too much fuss

 

we use VNC for most things but theres still alot of things that wont play, rather than installing all these programs like quicktime, realplayer etc it would make life so much easier if we only had to install one program and it integrated with everything, associated itself with the correct filetypes and so on

 

is there such a program? or am i living in a dreamworld at the thought of such a thing?

No. The closest you can get is VLC, which will play everything apart from quicktime and realmedia.

The Full K-lite mega pack plays all of them.

Sure does, but its missing AVI compatibility. Your better off getting the CCCP codecs which run in IE, Firefox, Safari

KLite is also technically illegal as they decompile codecs like the real media and quicktime ones (if i remember correctly). The only way to get the codec for those legally is by installing the software from real/apple.

CCCP pack is probably the best imo.
