DuckRunAmok Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Hi all We recently purchased a handful of SMART MX265s and have learned that they do not currently have a screen freezing function, it's apparently a planned feature but with an indefinite release date. Our staff use this feature a lot such as when they are doing their register. We've recommended using extended desktop but this has proven problematic for some members of staff. Since the hardware doesn't support it I was wondering if anyone is aware of a software solution on Windows that we could use? Thanks.
Jaymate Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 I heard from my SMART contact that this should be released August/September so fingers crossed! 1
DrBeaker Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Before I started the school replaced some SMARTboards and projectors with a TV and the biggest complaint was - I can't freeze the screen. As they're just normal TVs - yes you're right and no you can't freeze the screen. This is what happens when IT isn't part of the conversation - an expensive mistake. 1
Dom_ Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Any update on this? Download the firmware from here and update the screen via USB (instructions on the link) https://support.smarttech.com/en/downloads/other-hardware/displays/mx-series 1
atcoates Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Support for the Freeze button was not part of the original feature set of the MX series interactive displays. This feature was added as part of MX display scaler firmware update version 1.8.4, released on November 5, 2018. SOLUTION Make sure the SMART Board MX series display has an active internet connection to enable it to automatically receive over-the-air firmware updates as soon as they are available. You can also manually download and apply the display scaler firmware files from the SMART Support website: https://support.smarttech.com/en/downloads/other-hardware/displays/mx-series. SYMPTOMS Pressing the Freeze button on an MX series interactive display's front control panel or remote control has no effect, if the display is running a firmware version older than 1.8.4.
