pickman Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Hi, I'm new to Promethean products. Have a Dell desktop connected via HDMI to a interactive panel and a monitor connected via VGA. The issue i'm encountering is if the user switches on their PC before the board then the board is not recognised as attached. If I shutdown the PC and make sure the board is fully booted and then turn on the PC then they will share screens. Am I missing something really simple. Have six of these all with the same issue. thansk Matt
christhetech Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Which HDMI port are you using on the ActivPanel. I don't know whether Promethean ever managed to fix it, but there was a compatibility issue some time ago with using HDMI ports 1 & 2 with certain devices. Try switching the HDMI cable to either ports 3 or 4 and see if that fixes it.
christhetech Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Have the same issue with HP 8300! If you are connecting a HP8300 to HDMI, I'm assuming that you are using the display port on the PC to connect. IIRC that was the issue that was affecting the Promethean panels a while back. I'm pretty sure that HDMI ports 1 and 2 had a slightly different chipset to 3 and 4 and for some reason they just did not seem to like being connected to a display port to HDMI adapter. I don't know for certain whether Promethean ever fixed this, as we no longer use Promethean here, but I do recall there being some sort of connectivity quirk, when connecting Display Port to HDMI on ports 1 and 2. It's something that Promethean were aware of and AFAIK were looking into.
denium Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 I have exactly the same issue with 8 brand new Activ Panels. The workaround that christhetech posted works, but obviously this isn't ideal, teachers often boot the machine first without thinking. Anyone have any other ideas?
