bluevanman63 Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 My school has used Zilink to automatically populate outr Moodle with data from SIMS for the past couple of years. Unfortunately our licence has expired and the developer's website has disapperared, phone and emails are not answered. Does anyone have any information as to whether SchoolsICT still exits? Many thanks.
sarchs Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Any luck in finding a number. Our license too has expired and the phone number we have in not in use
3s-gtech Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 You may be able to link your Moodle easily to AD instead, if you have a clear route for LDAP to work (e.g. if it's internally hosted). That means that you'll still get automatic account creation, but for free.
localzuk Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 I think @penfold should be able to help, as its his company I think.
sarchs Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 our accounts are created with LDAP but its the linking to classes that we use zilink for hopefully @penfold will get back to us
3s-gtech Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Ah makes sense. You may be able to pull the data from SIMS to an AD field, then extract that as a custom field into Moodle via LDAP. Clunkier, but doable.
bluevanman63 Posted September 7, 2018 Author Posted September 7, 2018 Many thanks for the various replies. Having had no success with contacting Zilink, we have resorted to creating a report in SIMS with student details and classes, exporting as a CSV and then uploading into Moodle, ensuring that the resulting data is merged. No automatic, unlike Zilink however has given us what we need. Regards Ian Williams
FN-GM Posted September 7, 2018 Posted September 7, 2018 I am sorry to hear this about Zilink. We used to use them a number of years ago and I enjoyed working with them. As an alternative Salamander can provide a similar product - https://www.salamandersoft.co.uk/ 1
Marci Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 (edited) SchoolsICT = Mr Ian W Tasker, sole shareholder. You can find him actively posting & retweeting on twitter up til yesterday (9th September). One would suggest from this blog post that he's giving up on ZiLink and focussing solely on Assembly_Edu and expecting customers to migrate over - https://blog.assembly.education/zinet-assembly/ As part of the arrangement, ZiNET’s Connect service will continue to run for a year, giving customers plenty of time to move their integration to the Assembly Platform. There will be no loss of functionality for current ZiNET customers, who will be able to access key ZiNET features from Assembly following the skills merger, including comprehensive timetabling and behaviour integrations. 5tu Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 We had ZiLink a few years back. I always dealt with Jeremy Meades. Looks like he's now a magazine editor!! https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeremymeades/?originalSubdomain=uk
localzuk Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Apologies @penfold, should've been @penfold_99.
