Hello,

We would like to install a telephone next to the swimming pool in one of our schools. For obvious reasons I want it to be waterproof. Can anyone please suggest any outdoor SIP phones please? We don't need anything fancy just a receiver and buttons.

Thanks

You may want to look at SIP Entry systems, as they're often installed outdoors, we got some Paxton ones and programmed them to dial a sip phone

I put a normal (cheap) one in our swimming pool area (wall mounted in the corner right next to the fire exit) and it's been working problem free for over 2 years now.

Just thought i'd mention it in case you don't find a waterproof option, that they will seem to cope ok with the humidity. Our students are often problematic too, and no one's damaged it.....yet.

Hello,

I found a few outdoor waterproof and vandal proof and they are in the region of £500. I emailed a supplier direct in China and they will supply one for $210 plus $50 shipping. I think I will place an order.

Thanks

Nice, if it works let us know who to contact and how to config it

Other option could be stick a normal analogue phone in with an ATA back in the comms room? Might find more choice and cheaper to replace handset if needed.

That's a similar solution to what I implemented a few years ago in some local leisure centres. The analogue phones were really cheap and cheerful Geemarc units, around £15-£20 each. The thinking behind it was if they break, they are cheap enough to replace. Six years later, the original handsets are still going strong and have coped fine with the humid conditions in the swimming areas.

I put the same cheap and cheerful Geemarc handsets in the transport depot at the LA, about a year later, as the digital handsets that they had were failing on a regular basis. I installed the handsets in the workshops, where it gets really oily and dirty, and just like the leisure centres, they are still happily using them without any issues to this day. They were cheap enough for me to even purchase an extra couple of units to leave with the end users to swap out if they should fail. They've still got the extra ones, still boxed and unused.

Sometimes, the cheapest and simplest solutions are the best.

@Tefters that was the old solution but you can't hear the phone ringing in the box.

@MatthewL Rather than do that I might as well get a VOIP phone than faf with an ATA. But if the phone is at risk of easily breaking. That risk is too high. You don't want a broken phone if someone has drowned or something.

People calling into the poolside a thing? I would of thought purely outgoing for emergency otherwise go walkie talkie!

If reception need to phone to find a student or something they might phone in.

Do you have a secondary method of raising the alarm in case the VOIP service is unavailable, for example? Just out of interest given the potential risks with the pool.

We do.
