Local Authority Schools - Roles and Features

Hi All,

 

I am curious to know what roles and features are typically used in Local Authority school networks in the UK, as I'm thinking about deploying IPAM in our schools network. I would also be interested to know if NAP is widely used? Also DAC, Desired State or Direct Access?

 

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I started looking into DSC, didn't get that far though

I'm playing about with DSC at the moment. Probably a good idea as some think it will eventually replace Group Policy

Not sure it will. DSC is more about software configuration, Group Policy is more about user configuration.

Agreed - I've been looking into it as well and I think it'll be a complement to GP, not a replacement.

Although DSC has pros and cons compared to GP, it can be used to configure anything. It's ideal for server builds

Massive pro is the fact you can version control stuff

Didn't MS get rid of NAP?

Still available in Server 2012, not sure about 16

In 2012 R2 Server Manager it is still refered to as NAP although we and I guess most other people will jus be using its NPS (Network Policy Server) for Radius authentication as alternative to linux flavours such as freeradius.
