manick Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Hi all, As SIMS Learning Gateway is being EOL'd, I have been asked to find alternatives to it. I know there is Capita's Parent App which looks great, however I have been asked by our head in any case to see what else is out there. Is anybody aware of anything that is a viable alternative? Cheers Nick
tj2419 Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 EduLink One from Overnet Data - https://www.overnetdata.com/edulinkone There's a link to a demo on the link above
RichCowell Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Definitely worth considering others - I wish ours had gone with something else, we had a nightmare getting Parent App sorted, and Capita were as unhelpful as always... In addition to the suggestions already made I'd check out Weduc too... https://weduc.co.uk/ 1

jthompson Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 We've been running a trial of EduLink and will be going with it proper from September. Feedback from the trial users was really positive, and it'll end up cost neutral for us (YMMV, we'll be retiring SLG and InTouch).
manick Posted July 25, 2018 Author Posted July 25, 2018 Thanks everybody, I'll have a look through these!
psumner1992 Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 SchoolComms is also another option. As a previous SLG user we much prefer SchoolComms for our parents.
mikeprice Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 If you have your website through a company then check if they do something - most have added this sort of functionality on in the last few years althought it may seem obvious - check with your SMT what facilitates they really NEED - rather than the nice shiny ones they want but will never use may save you a packet

Hi, Can you please let me know how the EduLInk is going; I'm looking for a similar system apart form SIMS Parent App and I'm interested on how you are find Edulink. Thanks Youssef
jthompson Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Hi, Can you please let me know how the EduLInk is going; I'm looking for a similar system apart form SIMS Parent App and I'm interested on how you are find Edulink. Thanks Youssef It's going well so far. Still in the process of introducing various elements of it to parents, but the feedback as been good so far. It's a big step forward from their perspective, as SLG was pretty ropey looking, especially on mobile, and having EduLink simplifies things for parents as it brings pretty much all of the services we offer them into one application. On the technical side, it's gone really smoothly, so happy to recommend it.
Chaniel Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Hi, Can you please let me know how the EduLInk is going; I'm looking for a similar system apart form SIMS Parent App and I'm interested on how you are find Edulink. Thanks Youssef Hey, we recently moved to EduLink from SLG. We trialled SIMS Parent and found it pretty rough, as well as all the issues reported with logins from other schools. EduLink offer a fully featured trial which we used with a focus group of parents, feedback has been really good, really simple to use for parents. From a technical side, install was simple and we haven't seen any real issues. Their development has been pretty rapid but my issue with that is there isn't an knowledgebase or notes about what has changed, they only send updates for big feature updates. So I've found a few "new" options in the admin side which I wasn't aware of, such as sending login details via email (with a password reset link, rather than giving a parent a username/temp password).

Yep, I spotted that just after having gone through a fair bit of work with office staff last term to mail merge all the account details out to parents from Outlook. Wasn't sure if I'd just not spotted it before, so I'm glad someone else can attest to it having not been there!
