Rape victims advised not to get counselling - Government petition

Just discovered that many Rape victims are offered counselling but are advised not to accept this as the Defense lawyer can get access to the counselling notes and use them against them in the court

 

In fact the victim has to agree to this but the victim often feels they have to agree - and the judge can overrule it anyway

 

I have had counselling several times so I know how hessential it can be and how the privacy is essential

Hence - this seems all kinds of wrong!!!
