Steve +1 Yes it is a little suggestive it needs to be an electronic system, but as above, paper is still fine. Though, i'm not sure how this is to do with GDPR, other than ensuring you keep the information inside secure...

There's no legal requirement to have a visitor management system other than in the Hotel industry. If you do consider it necessary to have one, then the new DPA now kicks in and you choose your lawful basis accordingly (and it won't be Legal Obligation)

jthompson Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 One thing I've learned since we got an electronic visitor management system in is that fire regs don't actually require you to know who's on site and whether or not they're present at the evacuation point. You just need to clear the building, which is quite different. Our site is split into separate, independent fire alarm zones: one part of the site could be being evacuated, but for the rest it's business as normal. You can't positively account for all the visitors, just check off the ones you see.

What is troubling,.. some schools/staff will believe this rubbish and sign up. Just like quite a bit of 'extra' services that have popped up recently. Just stick GDPR compliant or 'must have'.... you've got a sale... And people will buy it...
Norphy Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Isn't visitor management more of a Safeguarding issue for schools than it is a data protection one? I really hate how companies like this are exploiting people's ignorance about legislation like this.
