Monitoring exchange mailboxes

Anyone know of a bit of software that means I could monitor what attachments are being sent in exchange.

 

Kids cant save music,movieclips or pictures to the own area so now are stroring them in there exchange boxes. Don't want to restrict there attachment size as some do send large files home to do with school.

 

Any ideas i'm not an exchange expert so is there somthing I can do via exchange

Have you been to http://msexchange.org ?

 

Handy place that is - there might nbe something of use there.

 

I have limited the attachment sizes a bit - to about 50MB I think [ because of those large publisher files >< >< ]

 

There's the journaling system that places every email sent and recieved in a special account - useful if someone misuses the system - but probably wont help you much at the moment.

 

Good luck tho [i have my thinking hat on] but try having a look at the msexchange site and see if you get any luck there [and then let us know ]

Best practice guidance is not to allow emails larger than 30MB - most remote mail systems won't receive them anyway.

 

If you are using OWA, you can also disallow the download of those nasty files (MP3, MOV, WMV, WMA, etc.) which would mean that it's pointless for them to keep them

Its turned on as part of OWA 2003 as far as I know
