Going to be purchasing a new server in the next week or 2. Does anyone have any recommendations for suppliers?

Got the last one from Server Source, and am very happy with it. Have had a quote from them and Ebuyer so far, with Server source being considerably cheaper, I'd like to find another supplier that may be competitive with them.

Would be happy with second user kit as long as it has a 5 year warranty.

Thanks

Serversource has been our go-to, we've used LA Micro and iDNS before too. LA Micro stiffed one of my schools on warranty (dodgy 3rd party warranty on a new Dell server that they had stripped & reconfigured, rendering Dell's warranty void)

Insight supplied almost all of our servers (Lenovo) and give us fantastic service. Read Ebuyer's T&C carefully, we got stuffed with a load of grey import memory that cost us a 50% restocking fee.

I'd ideally like to go for a bigger brand than a custom generic one, I know any company can have issues, but feel more comfortable with one that has been around a while. Also useful when googling any issues, there are a lot of other users with the same server out there.

I'll give Insight a call and see what they can do.

Thanks

I have bought direct mostly - Dell, Broadberry and HP, but of course you have to pay for it. Plus side, you know what you are getting, and don't get stung.

If you don't mind not being able to spec as much, Dell Outlet can offer some good deals, but can also prove not much if at all cheaper than new.

Insight do know their stuff, and can be really helpful, ebuyer on the other hand have been ejected from an approved supplier list for us for major changes to products stocked without changing the product code...

Just be aware if you're looking for something bespoke or even a little bit customized from tier one vendors then you'll get deal registered. Basically the first sales person to talk to you about the project will register your interest and get best pricing on the kit. I've had experience of this even going direct.

As a result it is perfectly normal for the second company you approach to be significantly higher on the same spec. So it's always best to go to your preferred supplier first :-)

Are you talking new or refurbished? New I used to buy direct from dell but gave up after several account manager changes and no hope of getting well priced, timely quotes any more. Basically it felt like Dell didn't care about me at all.

That being said, I still only buy refurbished Dell Kit, as kit is still good, ICT Direct, Serversource, IT In Stock are my go to's.
