Basically we don't have any in place due to the old SLT guard. They aren't here anymore. We have 2 members of staff who both have over 90GB's in their home area. 1 is backs ups of backs up, We'll solve that by enabling file duplication. The other has over 80GB's of youtube downloads ( I know, we are sorting that too)

What I would like to know is for staff what do you set? (I know it'll depend on your storage capacity and users) We have 3.25TB's of storage (on site) I am thinking around 20GB per staff member. Then my next question is students. What do you have in place for them? Do you do it like this for example :-

Year 7 > 500mb

Year 8 > 1GB

Year 9 > 1.5GB

Year 10 > 2 GB

Year 11 > 2.5 GB

or something else? I know years 10 & 11 will need more. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

We have staff on 50gig, and students on 6gig (10 for photography). - If they fill it up they'll delete stuff, we don't increase per year :p

With reduplication enabled it's much less of an issue nowadays really, always those that will push it, but we only have about 3 staff anywhere near the 50 limit rest are up to about 25~ average :p

KS3 get 1GB

KS4 get 2GB

Sixth form get 5GB (or up to 20GB for photography)

Staff are unlimited

Though we're just about to start a migration to Office 365 and moving to Onedrive for storage, so everyone will have at least 1TB each. We'll be keeping massive users like reprographics and media locally though.

"Unlimited" we just add more disks to the SAN and Backup each year (if we need to)

We purge silly stuff from time to time if we look like we are running low.

We've had this policy since 2006. Backup is 36TB for everything. Average student home folder is 1.7Gb. Obviously Media and Photography students (of which we have a lot) skew that with typical folder sizes of 10Gb. Staff average at 11GB, again skewed by media and photography teachers, and a couple of HoDs who will have copies of the departmental shares for accessing offline.

Staff - 5GB

Student - 1GB

If that isn't enough they have unlimited storage in Google Drive. It will all be located in there anyway soon.

We start with 4G for staff and 2g for students...but increase as and when we get requests and the longer they stately in school some staff have 20gb or more...technology....but students are within 6gb even by 6th form. With enterprise onedrive which no longer syncs folders we hope to make better use of cloud storage.
