bitminter Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Hey! So the other day I heard that Griffin are stopping manufacture of their iPad 2 protective covers, which is a shame for us. So I was wondering if anyone new of any decent covers that are out there for sale. The griffin ones were not great, most of the cases were half eaten, screens broken behind the protective shell and although they were "tested to US Military standards" apparently the US military's standards are much lower that that of a SEN school. Just to confirm, yes iPad 2 from 2011, they are easy and cheap to repair. Many thanks!
atcoates Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Amazon have fake griffin ones available. Some suppliers may also have old stock etc you could get.
RTi78 Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 We use these ones.. https://www.stmgoods.com/ipad-cases/ipad-2-4-cases/ipad-case-gens-2-4
Brimstone Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Try these... https://operlo.com/products/ipad-air-basilisk-case
DBazeley95 Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 We use the STM Dux in our school for minis and airs but assume the iPad 2 version listed above will be just as good
markwilfan Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 STM dux are very good. Educational discount to be had too. Try someone like western computer or jigsaw24
JohnJee Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 I really like the EVA foam ones that are for kids, but they do it for me https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/381974621197?chn=ps&adgroupid=52343051936&rlsatarget=pla-412712393691&abcId=1133906&adtype=pla&merchantid=101746126&poi=&googleloc=9046009&device=c&campaignid=1058608221&crdt=0
bitminter Posted May 15, 2018 Author Posted May 15, 2018 Some good ideas guys, we are looking into those now. The only one which isnt suitable is the Dux cases, as that doesnt offer enough protection and give the students another thing to take off!
elliot-w Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 We're also an SEN school and we use STM Dux cases on all models of iPad we have. Only had around 3 smashed screens in the past 3 years which I don't think is bad at all for us
crwardell Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 These can be found on Amazon for Ipad 2 cases and they are just as good as the Griffin cases: - https://www.google.co.uk/search?safe=strict&biw=1280&bih=844&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=pKD6WqblGcyegAbEpo2gDQ&q=amazon+moko+ipad+2+shock+proof+case&oq=amazon+moko+ipad+2+shock+proof+case&gs_l=img.3...35803.36156.0.39296.2.2.0.0.0.0.63.123.2.2.0....0...1c.1.64.img..0.0.0....0.AkZjamprPyM#imgrc=m53vAY51Si-xxM:

Only had around 3 smashed screens in the past 3 years which I don't think is bad at all for us Wow that isn't bad at all! We are roughly 1-3 smashed screens per week, hence why we repair them in-house. On the griffin cases they tend to rip the rubber bits off, and it looks like the cases have been eaten haha. Would be nice to have an indestructible tablet!
vikpaw Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 I really like Tech21 cases, though you might want to add a bulletshield screen cover too. My iPad Air 1, has survived for years with an impact clear case, and i'm only on my second standard Apple screen cover.
PotNoodleTech Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 We use the fake griffin ones off amazon. Not as sturdy but then no where near the cost either at £8 odd! They work well.
