Office 365 and Google G Suite using same domain name

Hi

 

I'm sure this question been asked before.

 

We are in the process of setting up Google G Suite for Education to run along with Office 365.

In the setup process it asks for a domain name, can we use the same domain we used for office 365, i.e. school.LA.sch.uk?

 

Email will stay on Office 365 and G Mail will be disabled.

I don't think you can, this is the stumbling block I hit as it asks if you own the domain and you need to paste some code into the webspace of the domain to work. A new domain may be the way forward. Unless someone else knows different - I gave up at this point and haven't bothered to revisit it yet.

Short answer: yes [emoji846]

 

To route mail to either, you'll need to provide an Mx record to your domain registrar so that they know where to route your email.

 

The step by step set up does take you through it and it will tell you what record to add when you get to the stage of setting up email, so you won't easily break your current mail. Skip the gmail section during G Suite setup and it won't know anything about your emails.

Yes you can use the same domain. All you need to do is prove you own the domain.

 

As you have pointed out that Email will be disabled then there is no problem really

you only need the verification info on the web/dns for the brief period of verification once thats done you can pull it.

 

we do the reverse just fine so i would assume you wouldnt have an issue

We’ve got both setup on same domain. Set up ages ago think we used a text record on 365
