OneDrive On Demand - This operation has been cancelled

Hi all,

 

Have setup OneDrive on Demand for staff laptops. I am currently testing it before I push out. I have made sure I have the latest version of Windows and Onedrive client, have setup the client and I can see it has connected. But when I click on the OneDrive Icon i get "This operation has been cancelled due to restictions in effect on this computer."

 

I guess this is due to a software restriction policy, but I cannot find anything. Should I setup an allow in applocker or something?

Try to allow it through applocker see if that does solve the issue you are having. If users cannot write to the local start menu then it could cause an issue with the short file so might be worth looking at that as well.

Yes it's because you have the "Prevent Access to Drives in My Computer" set somewhere in group policy. This will prevent access to C: which is why it won't display the OneDrive folder. And no, unfortunately you can't move it to a network share. The work around which isn't ideal, but will do the job, is to set the "Hide these specified drives in my computer" policy but NOT the "Prevent Access to Drives". This means that the C: drive won't show in file explorer, but can be accessed by typing C:\ into the address bar in File Explorer, or by creating a shortcut to it. That will make the OneDrive icon work as it should.

Unrestricting the C drive worked - awesome thanks. Fine for staff, but be interesting when I setup for students.

I dont suppose anyone got any further with this with regards to setting up for student accounts? I really dont want to open up C drive access for them, so would be great if someone has found a work around for this? We have historically had the C drive hidden for staff, but accessible and then completely disabled for students.

Just looking into this myself and just wondering if there is an updated version of doing this? Like previous posts I don't really wanna 'Hide' the c: when they can just type it in.
