rad Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 So we have moved over to a managed printing system installing Ricoh printers and photocopiers replacing the networked and stand alone printers. The conundrum, what do you do with the old working printers? We have a mix of mono, mono nw & colour nw printers either Brother of HP. Currently they are stacking up in our store room, I will taking the rest out in the holidays but what do with them? What did you also do with the remaining toners? Edit - secondary school, possibly 100 printers
crwardell Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 Sell them or get a recycling company to collect them
SpuffMonkey Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 Pile them up in a cupboard somewhere, ready for when they change their minds and move back to having printers everywhere! (True story!) 1
newpersn Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 As above. Post in the forsale section to see if anyone here could buy them.
nicholab Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 Keep a few for replacement for any stand alones. Give to any schools locally or charity.
Meldrew Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 Pile them up in a cupboard somewhere, ready for when they change their minds and move back to having printers everywhere! (True story!) Get rid of them quick before this happens.
HTCPCP Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Get rid of them quick before this happens. What Meldrew said! Otherwise you will have teacher X wanting one for their classroom because it's too far to walk 20 metres to get a print out, then teacher Y will say, I want one in my office because I print out thousands of pictures of cats all day long, then teacher Z will pipe up saying, teacher X and Y have one, I want one too, you are ruining my life and go running to the LT crying saying you are being mean, and making their job 500000000000000 times harder. the LT will then cave and make you give them one! In reality, the only places you may want individial printers that I had come across when we did that a couple of years ago was: Exams - means they can have stuff printing and still be able to work DSP - Confidential print outs, during meetings etc Canteen - Chances are you don't have a printer that near it, and they need to be able to print stuff off quickly SENCO - if they have their own office, its better for them to have a local printer too The only other one that may be arguable, would be finance, if they still print loads of cheques. Apart from that, no one else, including the LT got one, no matter how hard they pestered. Make sure LT members know why certain places are getting local printers too.
rad Posted April 6, 2018 Author Posted April 6, 2018 We have Printers and photocopiers under this new contract. I have removed about 65 already I still have more to go, I have been told to get a company to buy them. If you know of a company in or around London, please send me some details.
Norphy Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Re-enact that scene from Office Space? Come on, you know you want to. (I'd link it here but there is rather a load of bad language in it)
rad Posted April 9, 2018 Author Posted April 9, 2018 @Millgate can you advise if this is a service you offer?
Fazza Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 Store them somewhere. If you renew your Ricoh contract when it's up for renewall, then sell them, if you dont renew you've saved loads of money as you already have a load of printers.
