Jawloms Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 Anyone done anything like this with Groupon? https://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/career-match-1845 Massive saving, seems to good to be true. Thank you Stuart
lmrogers Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 I've brought a bundle like this from Groupon before but for the 2012 courses. I'd say its definitely a good deal. 1
StevieM Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 (edited) There is also this one https://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/career-match-1871 It's the same price (£39) but as well as the three MCSA Server 2016 courses, it also includes the MCSE Server 2012 and Office 2016 courses, too. Very tempting, I must say... Edit: Exams not included, by the way. Edited March 13, 2018 by StevieM 1
strawberry Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 As a side note, if you do any exams then make sure you get academic discount, brings it down to about £50. 2
Jawloms Posted March 13, 2018 Author Posted March 13, 2018 Can anyone say what you get? Presumably the material, but access to a tutor or something? Anything else? Thank you Stuart
StevieM Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 I clicked through to their website for more information - https://www.careermatch-uk.com/2018-mega-microsoft-bundle.html#product_tabs_training_features The "instructor-led training" is pre-recorded, so I don't think you actually get access to a real person. There are peer-networking features though so you can collaborate with other students, as well as quizzes, simulations and games. It's not something I could see anybody paying the 'real' price for, but for £39 it could be worth a punt. 1
strawberry Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 Also testout used to do a student discount, was very good!. 1
sted Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 that looks way too good to be true makes me think maybe the company dosent expect to be around long and are just trying to get a quick cash influx
LansITGuy Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 (edited) Though I'd give it a shot. Tried a few providers before (CBT and Pluralsight / Trainsignal mostly). Those other were way too expensive in the long term as I didn't get as much time to dedicate as I wanted. Only had a few hours on it so far, but here is what I've found with the 2016 stuff and the website as a whole: - Login is not SSL on the main training site. Bit odd I thought, but with paying through Groupon, no payment details in the account which is something. Stilll not great design and design is something that is missing as a whole really. - Content is OK on the video. Streams well and is quite clear. - The tutor is a good but does seem to get a bit lost in his points some times. But this isn't uncommon on these systems. - Overall, based on what I've seen, things are quite detailed. Usual issue that you'll never cover all the exam content in a video series, but for the price of a decent book, this package seems worth adding it to your study material. - The materials that come with the course are basic. Just copies of slides. I've not found any labs etc yet. Just end of section / course quizzes. - It can be a bit of a pain to find the content you want. There is no direct link from your main page back to where you were up to. Let me know if anyone has any questions and I can try to look into things further. Edited March 14, 2018 by LansITGuy 4
