Can anyone recommend some Mac training beneficial to a school environment please.

 

Personally the best way i found to learn how Macs work, is to use one daily or as much as you can. (I brought my own MacBook to do this, you don't have to obviously!)

 

I also had a look for training on Macs but they all seemed expensive and for things that you can easily pick up just by using them in anger. Plus if you're looking for training on Macs in a school environment i'm guessing you mean managing them on a network etc. if so surely you should look for training on the MDM you use?

Although they're not specifically education related, Apple do their own range of courses targeted towards macOS, iOS and hardware maintenance. If you're set on going onto a course, it's probably worth looking at those:

Peachpit Press do books specifically set up for the Apple courses, and even if you aren't going to be doing the course, they're useful resources.

I've done a couple of Amsys courses (Mac integration Basics & OS Support Essentials). They were really good, but not cheap. You could also just pick up the book for these certifications if you're that kind of learner. I've not seen any education specific training though. In my experience Apple love selling to education, but implement very little education specific systems/software. Edited March 12, 2018 by APMerry

The problem with institution based courses (Amsys, Apple etc) is they're general at best and don't cover in any real detail the information you need for your particular requirements. Every school is different and over the years my advice has always been to look for training specific to your environment, hardware and needs. I'm not touting for business but it is something I offer to those who are interested.
