Good morning,

We made a decision to use broadband offered by Entrust in Staffordshire, as some of you know this has been a disaster and we're now looking at our options. I'm after a school that uses Entrust for telephony but not for broadband. We're currently being informed the VoIP system will only work with Entrust Broadband which means we are stuck in a never ending cycle as they have different renewal dates with VoIP coming after BB.

Is there anyone out there they has this setup (Entrust VoIP but not BB)?

Cheers

PM'd I'm sure we've a few schools in Staffordshire already using our service.

It's highly likely you can re-use your current phones on our own SIP service and we can help you migrate whether using our broadband or not. If you are using our broadband then we have a number of free phones we can put so you don't need to buy any too and we'd bundle this into the broadband costs.

Thanks

It's unlikely any schools have this type of setup, most schools either left completely or stayed on Entrust BB and had a new phone system.

We made it clear to schools that Entrust would try to keep them locked in with different contracts for BB and VoIP

All I can say is they did not state this information before schools signed up.

I would say schools were mis-sold both broadband and VoIP solutions.

Schools were told they could use any VoIP provider before and then after were told only Entrust VoiP works on Entrust BB...absolute joke!

We are currently experiencing the same problem with them, back in October I called the service desk asking if we could continue to use their VOIP solution when switching broadband providers as their service has been awful, the answer back then was "yes" now it has come to crunch time and I have a new provider in place they have said "No" and they have also now confirmed we can't get out of the broadband contract for another 15 months!!! even though the service has been shocking...

They are all Cisco branded phones, not sure if they have the Cisco Call Manager stuff on or the SIP firmware but its of no consequence as I have a pile of SIP compatible phones in a drawer ready to go at the High School :)

Just waiting for the go ahead to swap over and have an instance of Asterisk/Free PBX ready and waiting.

Not sure they can keep you tied into the broadband contract. It has been that bad it is causing safe guarding issues as everything is now internet based. It is not just how oftern the service is out, it is also the poor speed and filtering/firewall issues.

Do you know to anyone that has kept a log of the recent outages as we are putting together a complaint.

We have a few of them from our VPN logs at another school.
