Afternoon All,

Does anybody who uses SIMS Parent App know how the app works if you have children at different schools? Do you need to have 2 seperate logins for the app, or does it automatically recognize that you are the same person for 2 students?

Regards,

I've been looking into this extensively. Each person in SIMS has an external GUID, this is unique accross every SIMS database. When you sign up to SIMS online services each person is generated a SIMS ID GUID. SIMS ID has been written in such a way that each SIMS ID GUID can be assigned 1 external GUID from each SIMS database (thus if you have duplicates in your SIMS database you need to combine them into a single record first). Each SIMS ID is also assigned a single main database (usually the first one attached to it), so what should happen is:

School A sends parent an invite, parent creates a SIMS ID login as part of the invitation progress.

School B sends parent an invite, parent uses SIMS ID login created for School A's invitation to accept the invitation from School B.

Job done parent has access to both schools offerings.

Complications arise if Schools are both using SIMS ID Lite, the adult concerned has more than 1 role (e.g. is also an employee), the person trying to be set up is from an LSU and doesn't exist in the SIMS databases, the SIMS ID account is being associated with a student and contact in the same database (e.g. a 6th form student who is a contact for a Y7)
