Setting up Office 365

As @Norphy says, you can do it using powershell, but the recent changes to the GUI mean you can do it there too now.

 

Go to the users panel, set up a search to pull out the users you want to assign to, tick the box at the top of the column to select all users in the search, and untick some manually if you want to excluse them, then choose Edit product licenses in the flyout that appears on the right.

Would be there a while. 800 pupils and 100 odd staff.

 

Shame I can’t do via a group setting.

Not as long as you might think. 1100 students and 120 staff here took about 5 mins.

Done it. Took about 10 mins to sort. I got 1 user that wont sync over to Azure. Support think its because its a "Linked Mailbox" and not a "User Mailbox" Does tally up as its the only one that is playing up...

 

*Wonder if i can go visit a school that is fully O365 as CPD time*

Shame I can’t do via a group setting.

 

You can assign licenses to groups. It will retroactively assign new or modified licenses to existing users, and automatically assign the specified licenses to users when they're sync'd across providing they're a member of group.

Well, Thats that mailbox fixed and sync'ed over to Azure.

I think its VL problem as its registered against our onms.com account and not our domain.

 

Just waiting for our reseller to get back to us.

from memory (its been a while) if you already have office 365 setup (dosent need users just need to exist iirc) you can go https://portal.office.com/start?sku=e82ae690-a2d5-4d76-8d30-7c6e01e6022e put in a school email address and thats about it follow the prompts (if it cant verify you as a school use your onmicrosoft address instead of @school.sch and that should be about all you need to do i diddnt ever have to deal with people my school got the vls from
