Medical Request - Brightness reduction for student

Morning all,

Was wondering if anyone else has had the same request, have been told I need to adjust the brightness for one student as per doctors note (It needs to be dimmer).

The only way I could think of, was to enable hotkeys for this particular student, explain to him and his teachers how to adjust the brightness using the hot keys, then for all other students set the GPO to set the brightness to full to avoid him turning it right down on ever computer he uses and other students not being able to turn it back up.

Personally I would go the - buy a screen filter route. Buy two though. No doubt the first one will get broken or left somewhere!

You could change profile to mandatory after doing display settings ? I haven't done it for a long time but that was easiest method to keep settings with student and not restrict them to one PC? You may have to remove from current security group and put in Domain Admins whilst you're doing it, depending on your AD /GPO set up.

Problem is you would have to adjust the brightness on each PC the student uses which is not feasible.

 

The screen filter would be a good option but obvs is a bit of a pain, likely to get lost/broken so keep a few in stock.

 

An even better option may be to give the student a laptop and force the brightness down on it? The student then always uses the "dim" laptop.

Perfect timing as we've a member of staff getting headaches in front of her computer - this is a much easier way of turning down the brightness - just choose black as the colour (not color) and adjust the opacity to suit! Lovely Jubbly

We use the built in hardware brightness controls. Everyone is free to adjust how they see fit.

I use f.lux at home https://justgetflux.com/ but color veil looks better suited for this task.

On somewhat of a related note I had a user make their screen go monochrome with that new shortcut. Odd I just read it in the other thread yesterday and it happens today.
