mikeprice Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Hi all My home printer dies some time ago - and now I have stopped working I don't have access to any printers at all. Normally I don't need to print much but there are times that it would be useful - or even necessary to print something off. Problem is that this isn't very often so some inkjets get dried up and fail. So - the question is - does anyone know of a cheap (i.e. quality isn't that important) printer that will be fine left alone fo weeks on end but will still print reliably?? Thanks Mike
Steve21 Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Do you need colour etc? We ended up going for a cheapy mono laser in the end, as it's so far and few between printing even the basic (demo) toner is about 2 years old now Probably won't even get to replacing the toner as guessing by that time we'll get enough cheapy one Steve

MatthewL Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 There are some reasonably priced colour lasers on eBuyer at the moment. I didn't do much at home so upgraded, had my colour laser 8 years paid about £300 for it, only just replaced some of the cartridges in it but don't have to worry about them drying up. I've got an OKI C510 bought via a firm on here at the time, might be worth looking for any second hand printers if you don't need much. Still can't bare to part with my HP BI 1100 was a good printer just didn't get the use.
Mistert89 Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Brother MFC2700W is cheap to buy and run. Can wireless print from iPad as well as from home PC network. Scan/copy is also useful for me.
rad Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 I have a Samsung M2020 probably replaced by this now https://www.theinkpeople.co.uk/samsung-sl-m2026-a4-mono-laser-b-w-printer-free-usb-cable.html Bought it on a Black Friday Amazon deal, it’s still on the original toner about 2years later and just getting low. I thought I didn’t need one, turns out I print more than I thought I would.

HTCPCP Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 My main printer is a Cannon iSensys LBP 6200d I think, and can't fault it. A basic mono laser, with duplex that I can buy a toner for less than £25 that lasts me over 2k pages. It's a few years old now, but after I bought mine, they brought out an even cheaper model without the duplex unit. Then again, I also have a colour Laser too, HP Laserjet M252D, costs a lot more to run, but so far has been bullet Proof.
