After speaking with a few people about POS/tills and top up units. Did you just drop all this on your main network or stick it all on it's own VLAN? Jim
pijpug Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 We went with NRS, to be fair I've not dealt with Cunninghams but the Rep who came out to price it up didn't impress me. Ours sits on a separate VLAN, all devices have static IPs and where possible its own switches etc. That way if the network goes down, you can still have lunch
PyROm Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 We have cunninghams, put on own vlan. They require full admin access and remote access to the server where idstore is installed on + machine kitchens fo admin from.

fiza Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 We are with Cunninghams but not with idstore. We use the old system still. We give them remote access when required through logmein but can see on screen exactly what they are doing.

PyROm Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 We did at setup, but their admin account went missing a week later. They normally want kitchens to connect through logmein123, then connect to server from there. server is domain joined but set them up a local admin account (non domain). They do have a love of vnc as well.
fiza Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 I removed vnc from the kitchen pc. When they need to connect they connect to my machine and then I give them an RDP session to the server. That way I can watch what they do.

forkies Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 (edited) Yes, we have our tills on a vlan (actually was its own little network originally) and then the server is on a vm which has two nics, one on tills vlan, other on vlan to biostore/sims server/internet access. Runs really well in that setup. Old tills used to fall over on our lea wan subnet so had to do a separate network way back. Now off the lea and canteen moved so gone down the vlan route. +1 for removing VNC, they really like it but the version they try and put on is too old and has security holes. They don’t ever need to get anywhere other than server which I give access to using logmein anyway. Wouldn’t want our catering manager getting a phone call from someone claiming to be Cunningham and just letting them directly connect to our network. Edited January 23, 2018 by forkies
dapaulio Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 We use vericool. Generally no complaints other than their hardware is really expensive. I have set them up their own server and vlan. They use team-viewer and rdp to manage their servers and tills.
