[sims] SIMS Options not working under Windows 10

I've seen something similar with NOVA where UAC was the culprit.

I guess issues like this are to be expected given the software is 34 years old!!!

 

 

It's probably not that helpful, but Options Online works perfectly on Windows 10.

I've had this in the past and the info in the below thread helped solve it (I think it's the bit about running 'C:\program files\sims\sats\BDE511\setup.exe'):

Great, running the SIMSInfrastructureSetup.exe on the affected workstation fixed the issue!

 

Bad, lets hope I don't have to go around doing that manually on ALL workstations!!!

We only have one person who uses Options (or so I thought). About 3 months after I'd upgraded their computer somebody else phones with the same issue, and I'm thinking to myself "What was that fix again...".

 

I really should document it, though I'm fairly sure there's nobody else who uses Options!

I'm having this problem plus I can't get into manager, does anyone know if or what the default manager password is? I've tried blank and can't get in. Supervisor and operator with blank passwords work ok.

I have installed the BDE511 assuming this is what you are referring to. Still can't get into manager though says the password is not recognised. Is there anyway to reset the password?

Sorry to bump this thread was there a way to get in? Just heard about this now we need to reset the SIMS Options password, clearing PASSWORD.DAT doesn't work, our password is from 2010 and the staff member is looong gone now!
