Hi all,

Just lining up a project to get another four whiteboards replacing with touchscreens (WOOO!).

Has anyone ever used AV Partsmaster for whiteboard / screen installs? I've bought from them loads when it comes to projectors and bulbs etc, but I've never used their installation service.

I wouldn't otherwise doubt them, but their quoted labour costs for these installations are something like a third of the price of competitors. Not that I mind a bargain, but when their price comes in at a fraction of the others, you have to ask really...

Thanks!

hi

yes, we have used them, and the guys who come to us are always professional and also tidy up after themselves. The installs always look tidy and are tested before the guys leave.

Not impressed with them myself.

Showed up late every day, then complained about not having enough time. Technically inept (mostly wiring problems — missing L/R on audio, wrong leads supplied, dodgy homemade leads that didn’t work). Plaster damage to a newbuild. Bit grumpy too.

They were the cheapest by far, but won’t be using their installers again if I have anything to do with it.

Interesting - how long ago was your bad experience @_queeg500?

Quite recently. First visit was in August (for September term start), but I can't remember whether they finally finished end of September or early October.

Hmmm, well that's not very encouraging. I've got an installer who I've used before trying to beat their price, so we'll see how that goes.

Depends completely where you are in the country I believe on how good they are. We had 2 of them fitting 8 screens, they removed the old projectors and brackets, and then just cut off the AV Looms in the ceiling and wall rather than take them out of the trunking. Power cables they either took out if it wasn't in any trunking or just left them hanging in the ceiling...

New cables - these were direct runs rather than to a wall box so not ideal

They kind of tidied up afterwards, as long as there was nothing in the way, but the job was done and the screens were level. Overall, not who I would have chosen, but they turned up when they said they would, got it done albeit requiring me to do a load of work to finish the job, and not exactly how I wanted it to be done.

6/10

Well, I can only speak for myself, but I got about the same quality of install from the half price AV Partsmaster install as I've had from other AV suppliers.

They were no frills, but they got the job done, a respectable 8/10.
