HP Laserjet 1300 PS Crimping paper

We have an HP Laserjet 1300 printer which is about 2 and a half years old now, been working fine but yesterday it started putting a crease in every bit of paper that goes through it. The crease comes out in the top left corner and runs from the laft edge about 4 inches down curved slightly to the top of the page about an inch in from the left hand side.

 

I can't see anything obvious. Anyone else experienced this and if so how did you solve it. Or is it a terminal case for the printer. If so any recommendations for a replacement please. This is the office printer so needs to be close to the PC for confidential documents. The current printer sits in a rather confined built in shelf under the desk.

We had a 4600n that started doing something very similar. Turned out to simply be a worn part - we got a service chappy in to fix it. This cost money, of course (£50 + cost of part) - it might be cheaper to buy a new printer.

Could be one or more of the paper pick-up rollers are worn. You may be able to get a new set & fit them yourself. Not done this on a 1300, but have on many other HP lasers. Worth a try & cheaper than getting someone in.
