Hi all,

Got a weird one for you, I have a laptop that had a damaged screen and was replaced. Now the laptop won't boot. If I boot up the laptop in Legacy mode it will start up but the laptops screen won't display, although it will output through the graphics port, but if I boot in UEFI it will not see an OS, or boot from USB or Network. I have tried reinstalling windows, and low level formatting the drive and installing a fresh copy of windows for VLSC, but with no luck. Can anyone give me any suggestions? Cheers!

Sounds like you may have a duff new screen or bad connection do you not have another laptop of the same model to test? Does the new screen light up at all?

Was the battery removed before the screen swap. I've got some laptops in for repair that didn't and they have burnt components on the motherboard.

Check for damage to the screen side of the LVDS cable, also is the screen the correct resolution.

As Jatso asks, does the screen light ?

The new screen lights up as long as it is in UEFI mode, but then the OS wont boot. It says Acer, then says "Boot system not found". I'm out of office atm but I will take photo's next time I am there. Not sure if the battery was removed, but its unlikely it would boot one way and not the other if it was due to hardware error. Edited by UNCL3LARRY

I said that in the original post; If I boot up the laptop in Legacy mode it will start up but the laptops screen won't display, although it will output through the graphics port

A search for this brought some links that may help.

acer laptop screen no display but works ok in bios

I've checked them all but they all talk about the screen not working whatsoever, whereas the screen does work but only in UEFI, but it won't boot anything in UEFI even though it should.
