All my schools were on Junior Lib and moved to the hosted version. Nothing but complaints from the Library staff about speed, why can't we go back to the old one etc. Some of my sites have had a message saying their hosted installation will soon move to Microsoft Azure servers and they will need to change their shortcut etc to point to this instead. Perhaps that will help?

So the script they sent me hasn't worked.

We are still seeing this when trying to connect on the server: Capture.JPG

We havn't got any snapshots but we have veeam backups to look through.

I'm currently restoring the MLS.net folder so i can overwrite the current one.

Also, when connecting on a workstation, it's forwarding the request to https://eclipse.microlibrarian.net/?&site=

It was between Heritage Circa and Oliver and we went with Heritage as we found they don't rush upgrades and it just works, you get all future upgrades to new versions included in your maintenance charge so no other outlay when future releases come out.

Librarian just couldn't do her job, it was too slow , crashed often and when calling support all we ever told is to clear cache and internet history..ive never had to clear internet cache so much for one website!.. in fact cant remember when ive had to do it to any other websites.. Support always seemed to say it was our system at fault and not there hosted solution.

Afraid since they bought by capita its been one slow down hill.. support don't answer for ages, shes been on hold for 30min - 1hr to support at times.

I think one needs ask how long they have left as a company to be honest as Capita bought them out, but Capita have their own library system.

How does Heritage compare cost wise?

I'm too chicken to copy the restored MLS files into the MLS.net directory so im restoring the C: of this server. Once it's restored, i will point the VM to look at this VHD to boot of that.

Check DNS and clear your cache first. Try browsing to the site on the server through IIS - Browse :$port

Make sure that under Basic Settings that the physical path is C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\MICRO LIBRARIAN SYSTEMS\MLS.NET\ (or whatever you have chosen)

Check the virtual path under Advanced Settings.

The configs under that directory should have been restored with the backup, so I don't think the issue will lie there.

Flushed the DNS - no difference

In IIS browse the mls.net application - the server still gives SERVER ERROR in '/MLS.NET' application and workstations are still forwarded to eclipse.microlibrarian.net

Under basic settings ive tested the connection and it says authorisation error. Cannot verify access to path c:\program files (x86)\micro librarian systems\mls.net.

The server is configured to use pass-through authentication with a built in account.

Im sure this is database related as this is a backup configuration from monday when everythink was working fine.

If you've restored C:, that should have restored the database unless it was still live or is stored elsewhere (ours is). It being MSSQL, it's not going to be something you'll casually browse to find the cause - my Eclipse dumps the DB every night to a file which I can restore (via SQL Management Studio). Have you set this up?

authorisation error. Cannot verify access to path c:\program files (x86)\micro librarian systems\mls.net.

Check that everything is there and that the permissions are correct on the directory (the default MLS perms don't look very secure to me, but they may have changed for you!)

The database is stored on D drive away from C:. It backups have been running but only every now and then - something i need to re-setup again!! They were to run every weekday night. The last one was run last night which already has the changes made, before that it has 2/11/17

Im on the phone with MLS now who are going to create me a script to change the homepage on the database.

I am thinking of testing one of the old databases to see what that gives me.

Right!!!

So if anyone decides to change the hompage to HTML5 here is the work around as eclipse likes to redirect you to the HTML5 version once this is set.

http://servername/mls.net/default.aspx?site=eclipse - working lets you in to the database to change the setting back.

Here's the script to run against your database too (you need to query the database) if you change the mode to HTML5:

UPDATE [Object]

SET [Object_Raw] = REPLACE(cast([object_Raw] AS NVARCHAR(max)), 'List_DefaultCirculate_HTML5', 'List_DefaultCirculate_Silverlight')

WHERE [object_description] = 'SETTINGS_GENERAL'

MLS have confirmed to me that HTML5 interface is not coming to self hosted. You either have to host with MLS or continue with IE and silverlight self hosted.
